Celebrate the Spirit of Christmas at St Bride's!

Christmas at St Bride's is not only the busiest time of the year for us, but also one of the most significant seasons of the Christian calendar. During our many services we have in store, as always, a feast of exquisite and uplifting choral music; the opportunity to sing our favourite Christmas carols; and the chance to discover anew the power of that most famous story: the tale of a child born in a stable, two thousand years ago, marking the dawn of new light and new hope in our troubled world.

St Bride's, Fleet Street is a warm and welcoming Christian community, and one of the most famous and most fascinating historic churches in Central London.

St Bride's is known worldwide as the Journalists' Church, offering a spiritual home to all who work in the media. However, our ministry extends to everyone who lives and works within our parish, and to the thousands of visitors who come to us every year. Our beautiful Wren church provides a place of peace and a spiritual haven in the heart of the city for all who come. With one of the best professional choirs in the country, we are also well known for the outstanding quality of our music and of the worship we offer.

A place of Christian worship for 1500 years, we continue to proclaim the love of God here. Whether journalist, tourist, City resident or worker, you will always be made welcome.
Alison Joyce, Rector of St Bride's

"Is it against the law to cure on the Sabbath?" (Luke 14: 3)

In this incident Jesus deliberately violates Jewish rules about the Sabbath by healing a sick man. He challenges a religion hedged about by rules and rituals. The Kingdom of God points us to something greater than our own religious structures. We are to be on our guard against a rule-based approach to people and situations.

Lord, help us to look beyond petty rules and embrace your mission to the whole world. Give us courage to play our part in bringing freedom and justice to those in need. Amen.
