Jim Wills gained his early vocal training from the Royal School of Church Music. After extensive experience in small ensembles singing music of the Renaissance and Baroque - including many historically informed performances of the cantatas of JS Bach - he now devotes most of his time to piano-accompanied solo song, studying with Ruth Lindley and participating in masterclasses with, among others, Richard Jackson, Malcolm Martineau and Stephen Varcoe.

He has a special interest in the songs of Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert, and particularly enjoys exploring the subtle relationships between composers' music and poets' words. He performs these composers' Lieder cycles from memory, with pianists similarly well versed in this very rewarding and approachable music. Recent recitals have been Schubert's 'Die schöne Müllerin' in London and Schumann's 'Dichterliebe' in London and Brighton.

In any time not occupied by music he uses his scientific and linguistic knowledge professionally as a translator, mainly in the distinctly unmusical field of polymer chemistry!

Chris Underhill after reading music at King's College Cambridge, Chris studied piano at the Royal College of Music under David Parkhouse. Chris combines his enthusiastic musical talent on the keyboard with the life of an Insurance Underwriter.
He has a wide-ranging repertoire, enjoying music of most styles and tastes. His solo work includes various concertos (Saint-Saëns no. 2, Chopin no. 2, Dvorák, Mozart K488, Grieg), but he enjoys chamber music and accompanying singers and instrumentalists just as much. He has performed in the UK and abroad both as soloist and accompanist.
