Ulrich von Hecker studied violin at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt with Karl-Albrecht Herrmann, and afterwards in Hamburg with Nelly Söregi and Berlin with Romano Tommasini. He has been a founding member of the Kiel Baroque Ensemble and has played with the Camerata Academica Hamburg. Before coming to Cardiff 14 years ago as a lecturer in Psychology at Cardiff University, he had formed a violin/piano duo with Habakuk Traber in Berlin. He now studies with Lucy Russell (Fitzwilliam String Quartet) and has recently co-founded a piano trio in Cardiff with Carl Grainger. He plays a French violin by Breton from 1835.

Carl Grainger studied at the University of East Anglia with David Parkhouse of the Music Group of London (piano) and Sir Philip Ledger (harpsichord).  He later studied the organ with David Sanger. He is currently principal harpsichord and piano with the Welsh Sinfonia and works extensively as a recitalist and chamber musician.  Recent engagements have included performances of harpsichord concerti by J S Bach, organ recitals at Brecon Cathedral, St Mary Redcliffe in Bristol, St Mary's Swansea and Trondheim Cathedral in Norway.
