Kevin Fan Yu was born in Taiwan in 1990 and began his musical studies at the age of 10. He was awarded the full scholarship of The Performing Arts Institute in Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School, USA in 2008. After graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire with Honours in Bachelor and Distinction in Master, he was awarded two years full scholarship to study in Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Currently he's studying for the prestigious Meisterklassexamen in the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, Germany.

He was the winner of several international and national competitions, includes 1st Prize in Val Tidone International Piano Competition, Absolute 1st Prize in Barletta International Young Musician Competition, 2nd Prize in Euterpe International Piano Competition, 1st Prize in the Renna Kellaway Recital Competition, 1st Prize in Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Competition, 1st Prize in THSH Competition, 1st Prize in the Leamington Music Competition, 1st Prize in Birmingham Conservatoire Piano Competition, 2nd Prize in the 1st Peter Donohoe Piano Competition, 3rd Prize in Ludlow Concerto Competition and also Beate Graefe Scholarship Award, Dennis Matthew Memorial Trust, Marjorie Hazlehurst Piano Award and Harrods Fund Awards.

  He was selected for both the RCM in London and RNCM in Manchester with scholarship, and also the prestigious IMS Prussia Cove in 2012. He was also the Junior Fellowship of Birmingham Conservatoire from 2011 to 2013.

  He has given solo recitals, concertos and chamber music concerts around England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Vienna; several prestigious concert halls includes London South Bank Centre, London Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Birmingham Town Hall, Birmingham CBSO Centre, Birmingham Adrian Boult Hall, Sheffield City Hall, Warwick Art Centre, Stratford City Hall, Franz Liszt Museum Concert Hall, Bartok Hall, Taiwan Kaohsiung Culture Centre Chih- Shan Concert Hall and Kaohsiung Recital Hall, also includes Leamington Music Festival, Honiton Music Festival, Stratford Festival etc.

He studied with Dr. Chih- yu, Chen (The 1st prizewinner of the International J.S. Bach piano competition in Saarbrücken, Germany), Prof. Erika Lux, Prof. Katya Apekisheva, Prof. Margaret Fingerhut, Prof. Noriko Ogawa, Simon Nicholls and Prof. Malcolm Wilson, Anthony Hewitt, Prof. Gabor Farkas

At present he is studying with Prof. Markus Tomas and Prof. Balázs Szokolay.

  He has taken part in Masterclasses with Andrei Gavrilov, Fabio Bidini, Peter Donohoe, Dr. Robert Levin, Sontraud Speidel, Maurizio Moretti, Gergely Boganyi, Thomas Adés, Steven Osborne, Gautier Capuçon, Diego Cayuelas, Carole Presland, Mikhail Kazakevich, Christian Blackshaw, Andrew Ball, Dr. Orit Wolf, William Fong, Ronan O'Hara, Gustav Fenyo, Martin Roscoe, Benjamin Frith, Jeanne Kerman and Martino Tirimo.
