João Loureiro began his musical studies with Silvestre Fonseca, studying also with Acácio Resende at the Music School of Santarém, Portugal. In 2001 he concludes his Bachelor of Music at the London College of Music and Media under Professor Carlos Bonell where he was awarded the British Reserve Strings Prize. João continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, under Professor Timothy Walker, concluding in 2003 his Postgraduate Diploma.

João has performed recitals in Portugal, France, Holland, Germany and England and participated in various shows of poetry, music and dance with the 'A Phala' goup as well as musical theatre, opera and orchestras such has the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was the Portuguese representative at the 1st Congress of Unisson International in Germany in 1995 where he played several successful recitals as well as a live broadcast for SDF Radio.

In August 2009, João performed with the Britten Sinfonia in the premiere of Julian Phillips´ opera, "The Yellow Sofa", at Glyndebourne, returning again for the 2012 festival and tour.

His love of chamber music has led him to establish musical partnerships and perform extensively with flutists Vicki Tofts and Efrain Oscher, the UNOGUITARODUO and TESSITORI with violist Isabel Pereira with whom he recorded a critically acclaimed CD under the name.
