River City Saxes is a saxophone quartet that plays music ranging from classical and contemporary works to light music and swing. Formed in October 2008, the quartet has fulfilled many engagements across London and Surrey, and is currently presenting a series of lunchtime recitals in London churches.

Chris Hooker - Soprano Saxophone = The leader of the quartet, Chris's career has been in Music Education both as a teacher and a manager.  He now plays, arranges, and conducts.  He plays alto sax with the RAFA President's Band, Northolt and the Barnes Concert Band. Chris also plays music from the 20's to the 50's on solo sax and clarinet in 'Saxswing', and clarinet in the poetry and music duo 'Wind and Words'.

Bob Lowdell - Alto Saxophone - After studying clarinet and saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music, he worked professionally playing Clarinet and Saxophone in theatre pit orchestras up and down the country. He worked with people such as Ken Dodd, the Walker Brothers, Billy Fury, Val Doonican and many more. Bob took a second career as a music copyist, and over the years has turned out a huge number of scores for both TV and film.

Martyn Thomas - Tenor Saxophone - Martyn learnt the clarinet at secondary school, progressed to flute and piccolo, and then to tenor saxophone.  He is currently a member of the Middlesex Yeomanry Band and Clarinet Quartet, and the Great Western Railway Band while pursuing a very busy career in the I.T. profession.

Debbie King - Baritone Saxophone - Debbie's musical journey started in primary school where Chris Hooker introduced her to the clarinet. Throughout secondary school she was tutored by Paul Harvey, founder of the London Saxophone Quartet, before continuing with her studies on clarinet, saxophone and flute at The London College of Music.  She currently plays with The Barnes Concert Band, Paul Harvey's Clarinet Quartet and manages her own band Chase Rhythm & Reeds.
