Following a formal musical training at the Royal College of Music in the 80s, Ellie Blackshaw has built a considerable musical life for herself in and around Brighton and London. As violinist and violist she is much in demand as a chamber musician, also as leader and soloist. Her extensive performing work includes an ongoing commitment to 'new' music, in which she has worked closely with many fine Sussex and London based composers including today's pianist, with a growing number of works written for and dedicated to her. She also enjoys teaching, both privately and at Brighton College and Lancing Prep. School. She shares her life both musically and otherwise with Priest and Jazz drummer Spike Wells and their 'knitted looking' grey cat Beady.

Michiko Shimanuki commenced her professional piano studies with Dame Fanny Waterman in Leeds at the age of 17. She obtained her performing diploma from the Royal College of Music (ARCM) and continued her studies with the late Kendall Taylor CBE in London and other prominent pianists in Europe. She spent her twenties giving concerts and then went on to study composition. She was awarded a full scholarship to study with Betsy Jolas at the master class at the Academie de Musicale de Villecroze in 2003 and completed her Ph.D. in Composition at King's College London in 2011. Her music has been performed by the London New Wind Ensemble, Ian Mitchell, Ellie Blackshaw, other professional performers and herself in London, Hertfordshire, Brighton, at St George's Bristol, and has been broadcast on radio specialising in women composers and contemporary music in the UK, USA and the Netherlands. One of her compositions, The Dreams and the Pendulum performed by the London New Wind Ensemble is featured in a CD, Millennial Masters vol.5 produced by Ablaze Records USA, released in January 2015. Michiko has resumed her performing activity since 2011 and has given concerts in London, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire and Brighton.
