St Bride's: News

Computers needed for our Zimbabwean school

Computers needed for our Zimbabwean school

For several years now, St Bride's has supported St James' School, Zongoro, in Zimbabwe, as an essential part of our wider ministry and commitment to social justice.

Last year we were able to help them to buy chairs for their computer lab. Now they just need a few more computers to go with the chairs!

The new term of 2017 began with an A level pass rate of 96.3% up from 73.3% in the previous year so they are definitely a school that has the drive to succeed, and which does the very best for its pupils.

St James' is particularly keen to keep girls in secondary education. Girls are often seen as a source of income rather than a family member and they are married young. St James' understands that educating girls helps to make communities healthier and wealthier and can help reduce child deaths, improve maternal health and tackle the spread of HIV and AIDS.

At each of the Sunday services during the month of June, we will hold a retiring collection in aid of St James'. Please give generously to support the work of this school which is a beacon of forward thinking in an impoverished country.  We really can help to make a difference!
