Come & Sing: Choral Evensong with orchestra

Call 020 7427 0133 or email and we can help.

Come & Sing with our Choir & Orchestra on Sunday 26th November under the tutelage and baton of Matthew Morley, or join us after the workshop for the resulting Choral Evensong at 6:30pm

This year's Come & Sing extravaganza turns from the restrained romanticism of Saint-Saëns we explored last year, to two of the great composers at the heart of the Anglican tradition: the knights of the realm, Sir Charles Villiers Stanford and Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry.

We will come together with the St Bride's Choir & Orchestra, to present a Choral Evensong with a difference. Hard on the heels of Lucy Worsley's BBC4 programme on the origins of Choral Evensong (a must see but only until 17th Nov), St Bride's offers our Come & Sing participants the unique chance of singing side by side with some of the finest professional singers and instrumentalists.

Musical Programme for Evensong

Psalm: 98 'O sing unto the Lord' - Mendelssohn

Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis: Evening Service in A - Stanford

Anthems: i) My beloved spake Hadley; ii) I was glad - Parry

Hymn: Jerusalem - Parry (orchestral version)

The afternoon begins with a choral workshop led once again by our Organist, Matthew Morley. We then join forces with the professional singers of St Bride's Choir, accompanied by the St Bride's Orchestra, for what will undoubtedly be a wonderful musical experience, and a unique opportunity to enjoy the splendour and sound of Choral Evensong at St Bride's.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautifully renovated church for a wonderful day of music-making whether you be performing with us or attending the consequent Choral Evensong at 6:30pm.

Previous choral singing experience required.

"A very uplifting experience, marvellous workshop day and performance in the evening, thanks to everyone involved." - David Risley

Workshop Tickets: £25.00 (Admission to Choral Evensong without charge.)

Music provided on the day (can be collected from Church or emailed in advance on request).
