Pomp & Pageantry: Join us to watch the Lord Mayor's Show

You are warmly invited to join us at St Bride's on Saturday 9th November for the annual Lord Mayor's Show. The church will be open between 10am and 3pm.

The Show is sometimes described as 'London's favourite Street Party'. The procession passes along Fleet Street right outside St Bride's. Here's the running order→

You are welcome to join us for refreshments, a guided tour, or simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our church (especially if it's wet outside!).

You can watch the show on the big screen and enjoy a wide range of homemade food and drinks, find out about 2,000 years of fascinating history of St Bride's, and see the Roman Pavement and remnants of the Great Fire in the Crypt.

Our shop will be open and provides a wide range of gifts, such as CDs by our own professional choir, books and artisan preserves: it's an excellent chance to get your Christmas presents and cards organised early!

The Lord Mayor's Show is celebrating its 804th anniversary on Saturday 9th November 2019. Thanks to the ancient paranoia of King John, since 1215 every newly-elected Lord Mayor has to leave the safety of the City of London and travel through the winding medieval streets of the Square Mile to Westminster to swear loyalty to the Crown. It has been cancelled on only one occasion, in 1852, to allow for the funeral of the Duke of Wellington.

Over the centuries, this journey has become London's favourite street party with hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets. St Bride's has been an integral part of the City since its founding in the 5th Century, experiencing its joys and challenges including the founding of printing in England, the Great Fire of 1666 and the resultant wedding-cake spire! We have strong links with Livery Companies, both ancient and modern.
