Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

FB Events Nine Lessons.jpgOn Sunday 22nd December at the new time of 5:30pm, St Bride's will be presenting a traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols.

The St Bride's Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols offers the only chance during the season to hear the full range of readings in the form of service devised by Eric Milner-White for King's College, Cambridge in 1918.

The congregation takes a full part in the service by singing Christmas hymns ranging from Once In Royal David's City to O Come, All Ye Faithful and we also have the opportunity to hear a number of contrasting pieces from the choir's wide repertoire of Advent and Christmas music.

New pieces this year include two recent winners of the BBC Radio 3 Breakfast carol competition - Alleluia, a new work is come on hand by Ghislaine Reece-Trapp and Sir Christemas by Bernard Trafford.

We will also be repeating Gareth Treseder's lovely French carol Le sommeil de L'Enfant Jesus, which was enjoyed so much by choir and congregation last year, and completing the choral offering with works by Bob Chilcott and Andrew Carter.
