City churches celebrate - July 7, 2004

bigspires.jpgSt Bride's congregation, led by the Master of the Guild and other Guildsmen, will walk in procession from the church in Fleet Street and up Ludgate Hill to St Paul's Cathedral, on July 14 for a special celebration of all the churches within the City of London.

The congregation, of about 1,000, will meet in Paternoster Square at 5:45pm and enter the cathedral through the North West and North Transept doors, singing hymns, at 5:50pm. If the weather is unsuitable, the congregation will move immediately into the cathedral. The Lord Mayor is expected to attend and the Bishop of London, the Rt Rev Richard Chartres, will speak.
