Church in sound financial state, but... - April 26, 2007

In his report to the annual Parochial Church Council meeting, treasurer Peter Longland announced that St Bride's was not only in a sound financial state, but 2006 had been a very good year. There was an increase of over 25% in tax-efficient collections and donations over 2005 and income as a whole was 10.5% higher than the previous year. At the same time, expenditure rose by 9.75%.

"Indeed it was a very good year and will be difficult to follow," Mr Longland warned. "We must not become complacent."

The Rector, Canon David Meara, who chaired the meeting, said that St Bride's continued to be a thriving, busy church and the year ahead promises to be an exciting one, not only 'as we continue to minister to our varied constituencies, but in the continuous celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the church's rededication after World War II bombings.'

The Electoral Roll Officer, Mrs Janet Smith reported that nearly 270 names appear on the new Electoral Roll, with more to be added.

St Bride's is to review its giving to worthy organisations.
