Special service for former Guild Treasurer - February 25, 2009

Lionel Paget.jpgA special service of remembrance for Lionel Paget, former treasurer of the Guild of St Bride, who died on February 17 at a West London hospital, will be held in the church later in the year.

Lionel, who was in his 80s, was invested as a guildsman in 1974. During his work as treasurer, from 1989 to 2008, he was chiefly responsible for streamlining the accounts, and always kept a watchful eye on the few guild members who were late in submitting their annual subscriptions.

He and his wife Freda were regular members of the congregation until Lionel's health problems increased in the past 18 months. Apart from the church, his other great interest was cricket, and, as a member of the MCC, frequently watched matches at Lord's.
