We gather in St Bride's, in this place where printing has left an indelible mark, to celebrate the life and honour the memory of Peter Guy, typographer and book designer.

We celebrate his career working for 'amongst others, Chatto and Windus, the Folio Society, and as Head of Publishing at Gordon Fraser; his work as a teacher, his service as Chairman of the Ditchling Conference and as Secretary of the Wynkyn de Worde Society.

We remember him as a gregarious, warm hearted man, a generous host, a lover of books and music and history, a man whose family meant a great deal to him: a man of courage who faced his illness with stoicism and lived his life to the full. As we remember him today and give thanks for his life, so we commend him to God, and pray that at the end of his brief day is the eternity of God's love.

AMEN.
