It was hot, and they all liked it! - July 29, 2010

The churchyard was abuzz with activity on Thursday 15th July as the grounds of St. Bride's hosted our 'Some Like It Hot' summer party.

This was the seventh annual staging of the event, and the turn-out was the highest to date, with familiar faces mixing with those visiting us for the first time.

As ever, the weather forecast had us nervously looking upwards but, by the time things got underway at 5.30pm, the skies were clear and the temperature balmy.

Lynn Saunders and his quartet provided a selection of traditional jazz classics throughout the evening, and we were treated to a couple of surprise sets by the renowned St Bride's Choir.

The main aim of the event was to relax over a drink in beautiful surroundings, and this was possible due to a squad of barmen and women, marshalled by Churchwarden Peter Silver, keeping the beer, wine and Pimms flowing.

Delicious burgers and sausages were provided by the Borough Market favourites, Northfield Farms, and a tombola laden with fine wines proved a temptation very few could resist!

Many thanks to all the volunteers who made the evening run so smoothly.
