In our society people who 'blow their own trumpet' are often the ones who are noticed. But quiet people are just as effective in getting things done. Humility is an under-rated virtue that appreciates personal limitations, sees opportunities for growth and values the qualities of others. Jesus set the precedent. He had no need to boast of his identity: instead he pointed people to God the Father.

Lord Jesus, teach me to be humble about myself. Open my mind to recognise the accomplishments of others. Let me put you at the forefront of my life. Amen.
