St Bride's: Soul Thoughts

March 18

'They all ate as much as they wanted' (Mark 6: 42)

In this story Jesus meets the basic need for food of a large crowd. Eating is a very powerful way of joining our lives with those of others: we take in life's blessings and remember those, often far away, who have produced the food we eat. In a society of fast, processed food, it is important to remember the wonder of 'our daily bread'. Simply saying grace before we eat can help us reconnect with the source of our food and remind us to thank God, the ultimate provider.

Lord God, help us to remember and give thanks for those who provide our daily food, and to express our gratitude for your bounty and loving care. Amen
