'It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but the sick' (Luke 5:31)

The Pharisees complained that Jesus spent too much time with the sinners, and not enough with the respectable. Jesus said he had come for those who were aware of their need. God looks beyond external appearances and sees the real person. We need to focus on the inner loveliness of those around us and help to bring it out.

Lord, I am often distracted by outward appearances and miss hidden beauty. Open my eyes and my heart and help me to see people as you see them. Amen.
