"No prophet is accepted in his own country." (Luke 4:24)

Today we are all too aware that whistleblowers are often punished for speaking out. It takes courage to say difficult and uncomfortable things when there may be a cost for doing so. We all need to know when it is right to speak out, and to work for a society in which people are not penalised for doing so.

Lord, give me strength of character and conscience to stand up for what is right, even in difficult and risky situations. May we honour and embrace those who speak out within our communities. Amen.
