'Jesus replied, 'leave her alone. She saved this perfume for the day of my burial' ' (John 12:7)
These words begin the Gospel account of Jesus' passion, because they predict Jesus being anointed for burial. As we begin Holy Week we are invited to imitate the love and devotion of Lazarus' sister Mary, as we look ahead to Jesus' death and burial. What loving action can we make this week to identify ourselves with the self-giving of Jesus on the Cross?
Lord God, we pray that this Holy Week we may deepen our faith, strengthen our hope and grow in love as we remember the devotion of Mary in anointing Jesus. Amen
