'He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant' (Philippians 2: 7)

Paul describes Jesus as the supreme example of God's humility. He became a servant-figure, humbly accepting his destiny so that all people might be brought to God. Likewise we are to make ourselves of no account before God, so that in denying ourselves we may serve others.

Lord God, you gave us the supreme example of humble suffering for the good of others. Give me strength to serve you in my daily life and to put you first in the things I do. Amen.
