"Jesus touched him and said 'Be cured'!" (Luke 5:12-13)
Jesus encounters a leper, someone regarded as unclean, and who was expected to keep his distance. But Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. Touch, in our over-cautious society, has become suspect, but is a very important form of human contact. It expresses love and care in a way no words can. Jesus was not afraid to employ touch in his ministry of healing, and we should not be afraid of using it in our encounters with others.
Lord, Your generous love is all I need. Help me to draw close to others and express your love through the grace of human contact. Amen.
