St Bride's: Soul Thoughts

February 28

Be on your guard against avarice of any kind." (Luke 12: 15)

In today's society it is tempting to fall for "the big lie" that money alone will bring happiness. The story of the rich young man in the gospel reminds us that tunnel vision about material prosperity can bring on spiritual blindness. The Christian view of life embraces both this world and the next, encouraging us to make the most of this life, but not to become enslaved by it. Our perspective is both longer and larger.

Heavenly Father, help us to look beyond the things of this life to the things of eternity, and to embrace the joys of today as a pathway to the glories of heaven. Amen.
