The Artists

Alice Chua MA, FLCM, LLCM, Adv Dip Kodaly is a passionate and enthusiastic musician, dedicated and innovative teacher and educator, composer, arranger and music author. Whilst living in Malaysia and Singapore, Alice was Chief Music Instructor for Yamaha Music Asia. She opened new schools in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar, and started music programs for pre-schoolers in Indonesia. This involved training teachers and designing music curricula suited specifically for each country. She represented Malaysia in various international conferences hosted by Yama Music Foundation.

Now residing in London with her daughter, Alice divides her time between sharing her love of music with her students and invigilating examinations and competitions in Europe and the Far East.
She has written many music educational series used extensively in Asia and the United Kingdom. Alongside her popular Playing Piano is Fun (PpiF) series, her latest publication of Art of Teaching (AoT) just released in September 2020.

Mitra Alice Tham MA, MM, PGDipRAM, B Mus.(Hons), FLCM, LLCM, LRAM, LMusA, ATCL gave her first public performance was at the age of three and her international debut at the age of eight in Japan. Originally from Malaysia, a prizewinner at International competitions, she has performed to luminary dignitaries including HRH, The Prince of Wales, where Prince Charles described the performance as ‘brilliant and excellent’. She gave the London premiere of Leroy Anderson’s Piano Concerto and was invited to a Reception ‘A Celebration of Young People in the Performing Arts’ given by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Mitra was commissioned to compose an anthem for Malaysia’s national project: Melaka Gateway. This launch was presided by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, with Mitra on the podium conducting. She regularly gives recitals, masterclasses, lecture recitals focusing on Prokofiev, seminars on piano pedagogy and composition and adjudication in South East Asia and United Kingdom.

Well…that was pre-Covid times, which seems like another century ago…For the past eighteen months, Mitra has barely been more than a 1-mile radius from her flat in London and has trouble remembering what the inside of an aeroplane looks like now…
