St Bride's: News

Fools For Christ

Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 4:10 that we are fools for Christ, meaning that in human terms those who follow Christ are a bit crazy.

There is a long tradition of holy fools in Christianity and modern day clowns have inherited this mantle.

To celebrate 25 years of Sunday School we welcomed Roly the Clown to St Bride's on Sunday 18th of March, Mothering Sunday. Roly Bain is in fact an ordinary priest in the Church of England, and exercises his ministry of clowning to express Gospel truths in lively form.

He performed on the Slack Rope of Faith for us, and led us in our prayers using bubbles, keeping children and adults happy and entertained during the service. Afterwards he led a clowning workshop for the children who were also given a lovely picnic lunch by Janet and her team. Congratulations to Janet and Nicola Smith and to the Sunday School for 25 happy years!
