Jeff's licence was formally presented to him on by the Rector on 7th April

We are delighted to report that the Revd Dr Jeff Lake and the Revd Mark Fox have now been officially licensed to St Bride's as our Associate Priests.

Mark and Jeff were both licensed by Bishop Sarah, the Bishop of London, at St Michael Paternoster Royal on Monday 25th March (the Feast of the Annunciation). All clergy are required to hold a licence from the Diocesan Bishop to assume any kind of appointment in the Church of England.

When Jeff was first ordained in 2015, he was licensed to St Bride's for a period of three years as our part-time Assistant Curate. The good news is that having now 'served his title' (ie. completed his curacy), he has chosen to stay on with us on a longer-term basis - hence receiving a new licence from the Bishop in recognition of this.

Mark, who like Jeff is in full-time secular employment, has been assisting us informally for some time, since having completed his own curacy at another City of London Church, St Margaret, Lothbury. That role has now been made official by Bishop Sarah.

Both Jeff and Mark are 'self-supporting ministers', which means they exercise a ministry here alongside their regular employment, and they contribute much to our worshipping life. Jeff focusses on our Sunday services, and Mark regularly celebrates at our mid-week holy communion. They have both been part of our ministry team for some time, so it is good to have this formalised and a delight for us that they have decided to remain part of our community.
