Memorial: Jane Reed

A service of thanksgiving for the life of Jane Reed will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Tuesday 25th November at 11:30am.

Reed was an editor, publisher and newspaper executive, credited with introducing the concept of ‘add-on’ supplements in magazines.

She edited Woman’s Own for a decade from 1970, followed by stints as editor-in-chief of Woman and managing director of the IPC stable, producing music magazines such as Melody Maker and NME.

She transferred to newspapers in 1986, as managing editor of the newly launched Today and then as director of corporate affairs at News International.
