The Artist
Jens Lynen was born in Belgium in 1989 and started playing the violin at the age of six. He studied with Guido de Neve in Antwerp and subsequently with Krzysztof Smietana at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Radu Blidar at the Royal College of Music in London, incorporating the Leverhulme & Robert MacFazdean Whyte scholarships and the prestigious Constant and Kit Lambert Junior Fellowship.
Jens has been a prizewinner at music competitions in Brussels, Padova and London and has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe. Recent highlights include live appearances on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4 as well as performances at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad and the 75th anniversary concert of Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time at the work camp where the work was conceived and premiered in 1941.
Apart from his chamber music work he is much in demand as a guest leader and principal with orchestras across the UK and Europe, and has recorded numerous soundtracks for film and tv productions. Outside his musical activities, Jens enjoys playing chess, hiking and reading.
