The Artists

Edward Mead is a Welsh cellist playing with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, The English Concert and New London Orchestra (Principal). A member of Sinfonia Cymru, Eddie has worked closely with Catrin Finch, Patrick Rhimes, Laura van der Heijden as well as Music Theatre Wales. Other chamber music includes playing in the ‘Rachel Podger and Friends’ concert in the Highgate International Chamber Music Festival, and is a Philharmonia Orchestra Artist in Residence.

Also a published composer, Eddie’s music has been recorded for the BBC Proms Website, and his arrangements have been played by Sinfonia Cymru. Eddie is currently a Fellow of the Philharmonia Orchestra and on the OAE scheme. He is a former Fellow of The English Concert and Principal of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Eddie studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and Royal College of Music and is now pursuing a Master’s at the Royal Academy of Music. His teachers have included Richard Lester, Adrian Brendel and Jonathan Manson.

French cellist Aurélien Pinchon is currently based in London where he enjoys a varied career as a modern and baroque cellist, and teacher. Praised for his fine and sensitive playing, he is a most curious and versatile musician. He regularly performs solo and chamber music recitals and plays with various ensembles and orchestras on modern and period instruments. Passionate about chamber music, Aurelien has recently performed recitals at the Wolfson College Auditorium in Oxford, the Cobbe Collection at Hatchlands Park and the Handel & Hendrix House in London. An active orchestral musician, he has played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the English National Opera and is currently an Early Career Artist with Instruments of Time and Truth and a fellow at The English Concert.
