The Artists
German-American mezzo-soprano Carola Emrich-Fisher has been praised for her “creamy tone,” “mahogany timbre and supple translucence” (Boston Classical Review & Musical Intelligencer). She has appeared as soloist and ensemble member in major concert halls of the US, UK and Europe, under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington at the BBC Proms, with Cantata Singers, Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn Society, Linden Baroque, Felici Opera, the Eisenach Consort and others; as Carmen, Siebel (Faust), Phèdre (Hippolyte et Aricie), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Annio (La Clemenza di Tito), Dido and Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas) and Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte).
Carola is an ardent advocate of women composers. Her solo performances have been broadcast on several US radio stations. She was part of the Crear Art Song Masterclass with Malcom Martineau, Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar with Stephanie Blythe and Songfest. Carola holds an MM (distinction) from the Longy School of Music and a BM (honours) from New England Conservatory.
Australian-born pianist Lara Dodds-Eden has made her home here in London since October 2020, following doctoral studies in Canada and postgraduate studies in the UK. As a specialist song accompanist, choral accompanist, teacher and chamber musician, Lara’s extensive experiences in the classical realm include performances at London’s Wigmore and Royal Festival Halls, Toronto’s Koerner Hall, Sydney’s Angel Place Recital Hall, and Amsterdam’s Het Concertgebouw Kleine Zaal.
A year spent at the Banff Centre in Alberta as pianist in residence and concert curator led organically to doctoral studies at the University of Toronto. Her work on sung translation in classical song is indicative of her broader interest in exploring ways of sharing music and musical texts. Lara currently teaches a large studio of young pianists both privately and at Highgate School and enjoys spending time with her young family.
