On Wednesday 15th February at 7:30pm, we are hosting a concert by the recently formed orchestra, Invicta Sinfonia, entitled ‘Hymn to Apollo’.

The theme is inspired by the sacred surroundings of St Bride’s Church, and centres on Apollo – the Roman god of music and also of healing.

The event aims to provide a moment of peace and reflection, transporting listeners to the soundworld of Ancient Greece in a programme encompassing over 350 years.

Invicta Sinfonia has a mission to promote under-represented voices and prioritise community engagement.

At this concert, they are delighted to showcase two young performers in solo items, as well as a newly-commissioned piece from local composer, Alexander Edward Ling.

Programme

Henry Purcell: Incidental Music from Dido & Aeneas
Claude Debussy: Danse sacrée et danse profane
(Soloist: Iona Duncan)
Alexander Ling: Noumenia **New commission**
Gabriel Fauré: Hymne à Apollon
(Soloist: TBC)
Jean-Baptiste Lully: Le Ballet des Muses
