The Artists

Dominic Stokes is a violist, composer, and actor who has established a reputation as one of London’s leading young contemporary artists. His passion and musical facility for all things contemporary has led him to work with groups at the forefront of the new-music scene, such as the Riot Ensemble – “The supergroup of top soloists playing new music” – the Manchester Camerata, O/ Modernt, as well as an appearance on BBC Radio 3, playing the music of Frank Zappa. Dominic’s skills in solo performance and chamber music have led him to partake in many of Europe’s top festivals, such as the Dartington Summer Festival and the Festival Resonances Academy, receiving masterclasses from Alfred Brendel, Hugo Ticciati and Max Baillie. Alongside his quartet, Quartet Concrète, he received first prize in the St James Chamber Music competition, performed recitals across London, and they are currently part of the Hans Keller chamber forum. Dominic is the director of Rothko Collective, a contemporary music group dedicated to creating immersive, inspiring experiences. They have commissioned over 20 new works, were awarded first prize in Nonclassical’s award for best emerging artist, released two albums and appeared on BBC Radio 3.

British pianist Stephen Gutman has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, Ueno Bunka Keikan in Tokyo and throughout Europe. Stephen is passionately committed to the music of our time; some of the many composers who have written pieces for him include Julian Anderson, Tansy Davies, Gabriel Jackson and Colin Matthews. His enthusiasm for French keyboard repertoire including the French Baroque led to a recording of the complete keyboard works of Rameau played on the modern piano for Toccata. The final CD was chosen as CD of the month by MusicWeb International and received 5 stars in BBC Music Magazine. Other recordings are available on NMC and his performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Deutsche Rundfunk and France Musique. Stephen has given piano masterclasses in the UK and internationally. He gives regular piano courses and chamber music courses at Benslow Music and Jackdaws.
