The Artist
Herman Med Cerisha, a 20-year-old pianist from Putignano, Italy, began studying the piano at the age of six. At just eight years old, he was admitted with full marks to the prestigious George Enescu National College of Music in Bucharest, where he studied under Elisa Barzescu and developed a strong artistic foundation rooted in the Eastern European tradition. In 2020, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Purcell School in the United Kingdom, where he quickly distinguished himself, being named Bechstein Scholar Student of the Year in 2021. In 2024, he was awarded a further scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Professor Florian Mitrea.
Herman has participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists including Boris Petrushansky, Dmitri Alexeev, Noriko Ogawa, Leonid Margarius and Franco Scala, further refining his musical voice. He has performed in major venues across Europe, including Wigmore Hall in London, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest and the Svetlanov Concert Hall in Moscow. As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with several orchestras, notably performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Kosovo Philharmonic. Between 2018 and 2022, he collaborated regularly with the Arad Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. In 2025, he performed Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto at Cadogan Hall in London with the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra, marking another important step in his developing international career.
