The Artist

Jack Wood is a composer and performer based in London. Born in Edinburgh in 1998, Jack graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a 1st Class Honours degree in Music before undertaking postgraduate study in composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, London, with Stephen Montague and Laura Jurd.

As a freelance composer and arranger, Jack has worked in a variety of contexts ranging from contemporary classical and jazz to traditional Scottish music and musical theatre. He has created pieces for new music groups such as The Hermes Experiment, Riot Ensemble, and Terra Invisus, with his piece Blur being released as a single from their recent album Visions (2024). In 2025, he won first prize in the AESS (Association of English Singers and Speakers) Sarah Leonard Songwriting Competition. He has also worked with ensembles including St Paul’s Sinfonia, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Academy of American Music. Upcoming projects include an album of piano miniatures and a recording of his collection of Scottish folk songs for voice and piano.

As a performer, Jack works as a repetiteur/accompanist in opera and song and is also an active accordionist on the Scottish folk music scene. He has performed in venues including St James’s Piccadilly, Greyfriars Kirk, Westminster Music Library, Blackheath Halls and Usher Hall, Edinburgh.
