The Artist
Chinese concert pianist Jiali Wang is a passionate musician with a wide range of experience – performing as a soloist and working with composers across several musical genres. Her infectious enthusiasm, playing with virtuoso technique, has brought her to significant venues worldwide such as Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Beijing); Carnegie Hall (New York); St Mary’s Perivale (London); Temppeliaukio Rock Church (Helsinki); Nerja Opera House (Barcelona); the Ruïnekerk (Bergen, Netherlands); New York University and Oxford University.
In 2023, Jiali received the Edna Bralesford Piano Prize from the Royal Academy of Music for graduating with the highest mark. She was also the 2022 winner of the Musicians’ Company Harriet Cohen Bach Competition, and received the Harold Samuel Prize for her performance of early music. Her career started at her age of 10 when she won the Beijing Piano Festival Gold Medal, and she gave her debut at Beijing University together with Lang Lang. Subsequently, she has been winner of the 2017 Gershwin International Music Competition (USA); Alion Baltic International Piano Competition (Latvia); Harbin International Junior Competition (China) and the 2024 Malaga International Piano Festival Competition. She is also active in many music festivals, including working with Boris Berman at the International Holland Music Sessions; a full-scholarship student of Dartington International Music Festival and performing artist of Petworth Festival.
Jiali is currently doing her PhD at the Royal Academy of Music, under Christopher Elton, and regularly playing for established names such as Yevgeny Sudbin and Steven Osborne.
