The Artist
Korean pianist Jungmin Gregory Ha began his professional piano studies at the age of 17 and has since developed his career through international study and performance across South Korea, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Ha studied piano with Alexey Lebedev at Kyungsung University in South Korea before being selected as an exchange student at the Ingesund School of Music in Sweden, where he studied with Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist. He later moved to the UK to pursue postgraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), completing his Master’s degree under Graham Scott. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Performance degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Sinae Lee and Petras Geniušas.
As a recitalist, Ha is developing an active performance profile in the UK, with engagements including recitals at St Bride’s Church, London; Great St Mary’s, Cambridge; Derby Cathedral; and St Alfege Church, Greenwich. Alongside his performance activities, his doctoral work explores contemporary Korean piano repertoire, with a particular focus on the music of Isang Yun, Younghi Pagh-Paan and Hyo-shin Na. Ha has received numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including first prizes at the Bellagio International Music Competition and Île-de-France International Piano Competition. He has also received second prizes at the Vladimir Horowitz in Memoriam International Piano Competition and Stockholm International Music Competition, alongside further competition distinctions in Italy and South Korea. He has participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists and pedagogues including Cédric Pescia, Vovka Ashkenazy, Maurizio Baglini, Oliver Kern and Jin Ju. His artistic interests encompass both the established piano repertoire and contemporary music, with an increasing emphasis on bringing Korean piano works to wider international audiences.
