The Artists

Márcio da Rosa studied singing at Conservatório de Música do Porto under the guidance of Cecilia Fontes. Márcio has sung with such vocal groups as CCC, Casa da Musica, Orchestra do Norte as well as being a soloist and member of other diverse choirs. In 2005 he started his singing studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the supervision of Adrian Thompson and privately with Susan McCulloch.

In England, Marcio performs solo and in vocal groups including Opera East and Loveday Singers. Márcio and Isabel Calado regularly perform works from Cancioneiro de Música Popular in Portugal and abroad. Together they have three CDs with this wonderful repertoire.

Isabel Calado plays harpsichord, clavichord and fortepiano. She performs solo, chamber and orchestral music in Europe, USA, Brazil, Singapore and Japan. She teaches Harpsichord and Basso Continuo in Conservatório de Música do Porto. She has been regularly invited since 2015 to teach masterclasses in Japan.

She holds a superior degree in Music (Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa – Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa), Master in Music Teaching (Universidade Católica Portuguesa) and PhD in Musicology – specialising in Historical Musicology (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas – Universidade Nova de Lisboa). She received the merit prize of Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa for her accomplishments in the year 2004/2005.

Since 2015 she published several CDs: Works by F Couperin, Works from 18th century Portuguese Composers, “Canções Populares Portuguesas CD 1, 2 and 3”, “Prussian Sonatas – C P E Bach”, “Probestücke – C P E Bach”, “Modinhas”, Works for keyboard by Portuguese Composers and “É amor a lei suave”. She published the book “Ornamentation Described by C P E Bach” in 2019 and the First Book with Easy Pieces for the harpsichord in 2021.
