A service of thanksgiving for the life of Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Thursday 12th June at 11:30am.
Barbara Taylor Bradford was a best-selling author, whose debut novel A woman of substance was published in over 90 countries.
Born in Leeds in 1933, she worked as a typist for the Yorkshire Evening Post before becoming a reporter and then the paper’s first women’s editor.
At the age of 20, she moved to London and worked in Fleet Street as fashion editor for Woman’s Own and columnist on the London Evening News.
Emigrating to New York in 1964, she continued her journalistic career until A woman of substance was published in 1979; she wrote over 40 more novels between then and 2023, ten of which were made into feature films or TV mini-series.
