Memorial: Ken Hayes

Thursday 31st March, 2022, at 11:30 am

A thanksgiving service for the life of Ken Hayes will be held at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street.

Ken spent his entire working life in journalism – first at the East London Advertiser and then, for more than 30 years, in television.

He was a producer at Thames TV in the late 80s, before becoming an integral and much-loved member of the team producing London’s nightly news programme for ITV from 1993 to 2013, covering all of the capital’s biggest news stories.

As Programme Editor, Ken’s boundless enthusiasm and sheer love of the job were an inspiration to many. He enjoyed helping those around him just as much as producing exclusives.

Much of the last decade of his career was spent at ITN Productions where he played a pivotal role in a vast number of documentaries and live programmes.

Unwaveringly loyal, enormously dedicated and supremely talented, Ken was more than a colleague… he was a mentor, an ally and a wonderful friend to everyone who worked with him.

He passed away in March 2020, aged 60 after a brave fight with cancer.
