Canadian violinist Kevin Ng made his concerto debut at the age of ten and has since appeared with orchestras across Canada and Europe in the concertos of Beethoven, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Bruch, Saint-Saëns and Berg. Active as a recitalist and chamber musician, he has appeared in festivals in England, Austria, Germany and Canada, and was the concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada under Emmanuel Villaume.
Kevin has been the recipient of numerous awards, including 3rd prize in the Enkor International Violin and Piano Competition and a silver medal from Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music. He began his studies with James Malmberg and currently studies with Nancy DiNovo. Kevin is currently pursuing his PhD in immunology at the Francis Crick Institute in London.
Thomas Ang has won prizes for his performances of Beethoven, Frederick Delius, Arthur Bliss and the contemporary piano repertoire, and has been praised for his thoughtful and critical programming and excellent technique. He has also earned recognition as a specialist in the music of Nikolai Kapustin, having played and conducted premieres of his compositions in the UK, US, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia.
He has a strong interest in contemporary music, working with composers such as Oliver Knussen, John Adams, and Nikolai Kapustin in playing their music. Off the concert stage, Thomas works as a pianist for the Royal Ballet, and accompanies and improvises for silent film, appearing at various festivals and events. Thomas also plays the violin, and writes poetry and piano transcriptions of songs and symphonies.
