The Artist

Geoff Howells writes:
With a background as a chorister and organ scholar, followed by some years working professionally in church music, it is natural to have felt an affinity with sacred music – in my case especially that written before 1600. But it was never the whole story and in recent times there has been the chance to diversify, to look across the centuries and around the world to discover a wealth of amazing invention and culture. This feeds into my own music and into a commitment to performing the work of living composers. I always include music by the towering figures of Buxtehude and Bach and am very proud to include a piece by my revered master, Dr Francis Jackson, to whom I owe so much.
