The Artist
Matthew Morley‘s organ studies began as a music scholar at Tonbridge School, Kent and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied organ with Christopher Bowers-Broadbent and David Sanger, harpsichord with Virginia Black, and piano accompaniment with Geoffrey Pratley. He won all the major accompaniment prizes and was awarded an MMus in Performance Studies and the Academy’s Certificate of Advanced Studies.
As a recitalist he has performed in many of Britain’s cathedrals including St Paul’s, Westminster Abbey, and in the USA at St John the Divine in New York, and Washington D C Cathedral.
He now enjoys parallel careers as organist, repetiteur and chorus-master. He regularly directs choruses including those of English National Opera, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, Buxton Festival, The Grange Festival, the BBC Singers and London Voices.
He joined the team at St Bride’s in 1991 as the H J C Stevens Organ Scholar and subsequently was appointed as Organist.
