The Artist
Max Pemberton first took up the piano at the age of eight, having been inspired by a local performance of the Grieg Piano Concerto. Max has performed both in the UK and internationally, in places such as Austria and Poland. In 2019, Max realized an early ambition by performing the Grieg Piano Concerto at Guildford Cathedral as the winner of the Farnborough Sixth Form College Concerto Prize held in Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music.
Max has enjoyed the opportunity to play for many distinguished pianists and pedagogues, including Pascal Nemirovsky, Norma Fischer, Peter Frankl, Joan Havill, Eugene Indjic, Noriko Ogawa, Murray McLaughlan and Paul Roberts to name a few. He now studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with professors Ronan O’Hora and Katya Apekisheva.
Max has performed at Milton Court and is a regular performer in the concert series at the Hindhead Music Centre in Haslemere. He has also performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with Woking Symphony Orchestra, with whom he is due to perform Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto in June 2023 following on from a two-piano performance of the work in March 2022. Max is a keen composer and writer of concert transcriptions for solo piano.
Max studies under a scholarship generously donated by the Ironmongers’ Company.
