The Artists

Having spent the past 20 years performing around the world with choral groups such as the Academy of Ancient Music, Britten Sinfonia Voices, Sonoro and the BBC Singers, Nina Bennet is now becoming established as a fledgling dramatic soprano, performing Mendelssohn’s Elijah in Romsey Abbey, Britten’s War Requiem in Haileybury College, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in St Andrew’s Hall, Norwich, Tippett’s Child of Our Time in Cadogan Hall, and Verdi’s Requiem in Eberbach Abbey, Germany. In between lockdowns, Nina has managed to make her first forays into opera with the parts of Ortlinde in Wagner’s Die Walküre, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Lia in an adaptation of Debussy’s L’enfant prodigue for the Grimeborn Festival 2021.

Matthew Morley was awarded a postgraduate Meaker Fellowship to study piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music with Dr Alexander Kelly, Geoffrey Pratley, and Paul Hamburger. He won all the Academy’s accompaniment prizes and was awarded its Advanced Certificate in Piano Accompaniment. He subsequently joined the music staff at Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Opera, and now works as a Chorus Master, Assistant Conductor and vocal coach with groups including Opera Holland Park, the National Reisopera of The Netherlands, Buxton International Festival, the BBC Singers and English National Opera, where for nine years he was Assistant Chorus Master. He is Organist of St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, the journalists’ church – a position he has held for thirty years.
