The Artist

Pavlos Triantaris acquired his Ptychion (Bachelor degree) title in piano performance in 2010. He has been indulging in the study of pipe organ literature and its liturgical use since his first acquaintance with the king of instruments at the age of 19 in his homeland, Greece; initially only with a meagre 10-stop instrument which was the only organ in his city of residence, and without a tutor available for help. Even so, his active enthusiasm for the pipe organ eventually resulted in numerous relevant appointments in Greece, chief among them his duty as organist for the Hellenic premiere of Louis Vierne’s Missa Solemnis and other French romantic works at the German Protestant Church of Athens, in 2016.

Now working full-time as a tax associate at BDO UK, he combines his duties with a musically and liturgically active life. From May 2019 to August 2020, he served as organ scholar at Chingford Parish Church under Mr Michael Emerson FRCO; under the same position, he has accompanied the choir for services at Christchurch Priory and the Cathedral Churches of Norwich and Llandaff. Nowadays, he still voluntarily accompanies selected services at Chingford, and also some of their cathedral visits. He has also held the organ scholarship at Brentwood Parish Church, and as of 2022 he is organist at the Letchworth Traditional Anglican Church of St Alban and St Edward VI, as well as with the Poscimur travelling choir.

He has given recitals at St Mary Redcliffe, St Stephen Walbrook, All Saints Cheltenham, and other venues in England. He occasionally serves at other posts as a freelance organist, and is an active member of the Enfield and District Organists’ Association. Among his tutors are Mr Jonathan Price FRCO, and Mr Simon Williams FRCO.

His endeavours in musical composition have ranged from small-scale works for church usage up to a symphonic Lied for mezzo-soprano and organ.

Pavlos’ free-time endeavours will rarely find him away from the exploration of the English countryside, which he profoundly admires, or literature, with a particular proclivity for C S Lewis.
