The Artists

Born in Hong Kong, Raymond Wui-Man Yiu moved to Aberdeen, Scotland in 2008 and attended the Aberdeen City Music School studying the piano with Peter Evans. He made his concerto debut performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 20 with the Meadows Chamber Orchestra in Edinburgh in 2010. Since winning the title of Aberdeen Young Musician of the Year, he has performed concertos by Schumann, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Grieg with orchestras in Scotland. He went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, obtaining his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees with Distinction. Notable prizes include 3rd Prize at 2019 Norah Sande Awards, Highly Commended Prize at 2019 Bromsgrove International Musicians’ Competition and 3rd Prize at 2018 Windsor International Piano Competition, which led to an invitation to join the KNS Classical Label.

He is currently on the Artist Diploma programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire as a Trinity College of Music scholar. He is grateful for the support by the Leathersellers’ Company, Deena Shypitka Music Award, Dewar Arts Awards, Phyllis Simons Award, the Guildhall School Trust and Christine Brown Trust. As a teacher, Raymond is a visiting piano specialist at St Albans High School for Girls and St Philomena’s Catholic High School for Girls.

Josh Salter studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he held a scholarship and was awarded prizes for cello and chamber music, and as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music, receiving the Sylvia Simpson Fellowship and graduating MA with Distinction in 2016. Josh freelances with the Hallé Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of London Sinfonia, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music and the Hanover Band.

Recent solo and chamber music engagements include a recital at the Barnes Music Festival, Stoke Newington Early Music Festival, Schumann’s Cello Concerto with Harrow Symphony Orchestra and Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations with the London Medical Orchestra. He maintains a busy roster of students which includes members of the National Children’s Orchestra. He is a faculty member for London Cello Society’s annual Cello Day, and has devised several workshops for the Society.
