The Artist

Named ‘2020 Performing Artist of the Year’ by South China Morning Post as part of the Student of the Year awards, 19-year-old Sherri Lun majored in piano and viola as a junior student of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She is currently studying with Professor Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music with a full scholarship supported by the Academy and the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.

Aged 10, Sherri was selected as a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. After her concerto debut with the Midwest Young Artists at Ravinia Festival in 2013, she was invited to perform again at Ravinia the next year, as well as in Millenium Park (Chicago) and Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), followed by collaborations with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Hong Kong Youth Orchestra, and the Kölner Kammerorchester. Sherri has participated in festivals including Pianale, Frost Chopin, Beijing, the Summer Academy at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, and is selected to take part in the Oxford Piano Festival this July. Only in her second year at RAM, Sherri is the winner of the 2022 Royal Academy of Music Sterndale Bennett Prize and 2023 Chung Nung Lee Prize. She has been invited to perform in both the Academy’s autumn and summer piano festivals, the Bicentenary Chamber Festival, and the Bicentenary celebration concert in Wigmore Hall. Artists she has played for include Gary Graffman, Arie Vardi, Philippe Entremont, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Imogen Cooper, Andrea Bonatta, Leslie Howard, Kevin Kenner, Dang Thai Son, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron and Lang Lang.

Sherri is also a prize-winner in multiple international competitions including the Robert Schumann Competition (Düsseldorf), Zhuhai Mozart, ASEAN Chopin, Singapore, Steinway & Sons Youth, and a finalist in the Aarhus International Piano Competition. In 2017, she was awarded the Highest Scorer of the year for her LTCL recital. As the winner of the 2022 Carles and Sofia Piano Competition, Sherri’s recent engagements include recitals across the UK and Spain, and her debut CD recording with KNS Classical in 2023. As an active chamber musician, she regularly performs with the Adatto Piano Quartet and with orchestras as a violist. www.sherrilun.com
