The Artists

Founded in September 2020, The Schola Cantorum of King’s College School is a girls’ chamber choir who regularly sing concerts and services. During the past year, as well as performing in School Concerts, the Schola Cantorum have sung concerts and services in Cambridge and further afield, including the University Church and St Clement’s Church in Cambridge, Chelmsford Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, St Mary-le-Tower Ipswich, St George’s Hanover Square, London and King’s College Chapel. In November they again broadcast the Civic Remembrance Service from the Cambridge War Memorial live on Radio Cambridge 105. Last month they travelled to Winchester to sing a concert in the Cathedral before combining with Winchester Cathedral Girls’ Choir to sing Evensong in Winchester College Chapel.

Members of the Schola Cantorum also have the opportunity to participate in the School’s specialist music training programme on Monday afternoons, that includes small group tuition of Music Theory and Composition, and for instrumental players, ensemble and orchestra rehearsals. In return for their commitment to the choir and in recognition of their work, the children each receive a bursary towards the cost of their individual weekly music lessons.

King’s College School, Cambridge is a co-educational day and boarding Prep School, offering pupils aged 4 to 13 a forward-thinking education, whilst maintaining its fine heritage and traditions. Girls and boys benefit from our small class sizes, dedicated teaching staff and first class facilities in central Cambridge.

Parents who are interested in discovering more about the opportunities at King’s College School are invited to contact the Registrar for further information and to arrange a tour of the school: admissions@kcs.cambs.sch.uk
