The Artists

Sophie Davis is a London-based mezzo-soprano with a passion for classical performance and storytelling. She graduated with a first-class degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where she studied under Sarah Pring, and now continues her vocal development with Sarah Tynan. A committed advocate for Art Song, Sophie curates recital programmes that blend music and spoken word, offering audiences thoughtful and emotionally resonant experiences. Recent highlights include Samhain at St Botolph without Aldgate, exploring seasonal transitions, and The Earth Has Music for Those Who Listen at St George’s Church — an evocative Shakespearean programme featuring the psychological journey of Lady Macbeth. A finalist in the Courtney Kenny Competition, Sophie is praised for her vocal nuance, dramatic instinct, and thematic originality. She also founded Forte Fitness, a bespoke training programme for musicians, reflecting her holistic approach to the performing arts and her dedication to empowering others both on and off the stage.

Sooyeon Baik is a collaborative pianist from South Korea, celebrated for her nuanced work across vocal and instrumental repertoire. She has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North America, appearing at distinguished venues including Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, and St James’s Piccadilly. Sooyeon has collaborated with many eminent musicians and participated in masterclasses with Julius Drake, Roger Vignoles, Elly Ameling and Roderick Williams. In 2024, she received both the Jubilee Accompaniment Prize and the Franz-Schubert-Institut Lieder Prize, leading to her participation in the Franz-Schubert-Institut and the Ludlow English Song Weekend. She has recently performed at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, the Guildhall Gold Medal and the Eastbourne International Singing Competition. Passionate about contemporary music, she has also appeared in the BBC Total Immersion series and Guildhall’s chamber festival. She is currently pursuing the Artist Diploma at Guildhall with Julius Drake and Carole Presland, and a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati.
